Sponsorship Options

The Mosaic offers sponsors the opportunity to be associated with an artwork of national importance which, by its nature, is quite literally permanent!  For those who’d like to support our project in this way, we currently have three options, listed below.

You can also simply BUY A MUG to help our funds!

  • Become our Main Sponsor
  • Become an Art Sponsor
  • Become a Recognised Sponsor

Main Sponsor

We have received exceptional support from Wells Civic Society and are eternally grateful to them, but we feel a project of this size and quality justifies a commercial or individual main sponsor to really help to boost our fundraising. As well as the kudos of supporting such a valuable, long-term art project, being our main sponsor will offer other PR opportunities. Please get in touch via any of the contact methods at the bottom of this page if you’re interested in becoming our main sponsor.

Art Sponsor

If you’d like to sponsor us but prefer to see specifically where your sponsorship funds have been spent, we have costed each key element of the design. Pick which element you’d like to sponsor and that then becomes ‘yours’ and will be removed from the sponsorship list. By sponsoring us in this way you will forevermore be able to say “I paid for that bit”, with a certificate provided, and your donation will be included in the final project book. Please get in touch via any of the contact methods at the bottom of this page if you’re interested in becoming an art sponsor.

It’s all in the detail…

£20 – Trees

There will be at least 200 trees in the mosaic. Why not sponsor one for a loved one…or for each of your children?

£25 – Palace Field Cows (sorry, all now sponsored)

Always grazing serenely in the Palace Fields, sponsoring a single cow in the mosaic is as important as sponsoring some of the larger pieces. Each cow is an essential part of the classic pastoral scene.

£200 – Quatrefoil x32 (historic feature)

There are 32 gothic styles quatrefoils, each depicting a theme from the City’s rich history – for example, Romulus & Remus, Reindeer Parade, Olympic Triumphs. But there are many more that are represented in the mosaic, each individually crafted and designed by Ruth Ames-White. See the full list of quatrefoils and make your choice

£800 Gothic-style Window x32 (Historic Feature)

There are 32 gothic-styled windows in the border of the mosaic, each depicting a theme from the City’s rich history – for example, Wells Charter Fayre, Cathedral Scissor Arches, The Mills of Wells. But there are many more that are represented in the mosaic, each individually crafted and designed by Ruth Ames-White. It takes two weeks to create these distinctive and unique features. See the full list of windows and make your choice

£200 – £1500 Iconic buildings

Choose from many iconic buildings around our city. These can take up to eight weeks to carefully craft – bringing Wells’ gothic architecture to life, reflecting the historic character of Wells for which the city is so famous. See the full list of buildings and make your choice

Recognised Sponsor

If you prefer something more tangible that also offers a PR opportunity, our recognised

sponsorship gives you the chance to be immortalised in the decorative stonework surrounding the mosaic. The number of recognised sponsors will depend on the final mix of stone sizes. We have three different levels of recognised sponsor, based on donation amount, which gives you one of three sizes of hand-carved, blue-lias stones in the surrounding pathway. The three levels of recognised sponsor are:

Contributions of £1,000+

a stone of approx. 30 x 20cms (as shown)

Contributions £500 – £999

a stone of approx. 20 x 15  OR  30 x 10cms

Contributions £250 – £499

a stone of approx. 15 x 10cms.

As the lias stones will form part of the overall visual aesthetic, and the final mix of stone sizes is not yet known, we cannot guarantee any particular position around the finished artwork. But in order to recognise larger sponsors we are happy to discuss the placement of the stones where feasible, and how we can help you to maximise the marketing and promotional benefits of supporting this prestigious project.

The technical specification of the mosaic and its surround are such that, left undisturbed it will last for generations, becoming part of the fabric of this beautiful, historic city. We hope you can support this amazing project and be a permanent part of that ever-evolving history.
